I had the opportunity to take my best friend's graduation portraits this month. She's graduating from ASU in the fall; she's getting her bachelor's degree in secondary education ans is going to be an amazing teacher.

I have known Carla for a very long time, we've gone through many [awkward] stages in life. We were silly middle schoolers, loud and obnoxious, terrorizing malls and any other public location we went to.

We entered high school, still in our awkward stages, ready for a new phase in life. We went through boyfriends and drama and came out of high school close as ever.

We began college and drifted apart, but when it came time to meet up again, it was always like nothing had changed.

Carla is: silly, sarcastic, caring, sincere, beautiful, passionate, lovely and just plain hilarious. She makes me laugh all the time. I could list a million words and reasons why I love this girl. I am so incredibly lucky to have a friend like her in my life.

Carla, you will never know how much I appreciate your friendship.

Our visit to The Magic Kingdom was so much fun! It's the first time either of us have ever been there [I've just been to Disneyland] We woke up at the butt crack of dawn to head from Sarasota to Orlando... we pretty much got there when the park opened, there wasn't a lot of people and the weather was really nice [thank goodness]!!

Yay!!! We're finally there!!

We were pretty darn close, a good 15 feet away... they were pretty calm and really didn't want to have anything to do with us. They were big, but not huge... we think about 7 feet long or so. It is pretty creepy to sit in a wobbly canoe only a few inches from the water.

I didn't want to do it at first, but it wasn't bad. I'd do it again :)

My little sister graduated from high school last month! I'm so proud of her and this great accomplishment! She is an extremely intelligent girl and I know that whatever she decides to do, she'll be spectacular at it!

My baby sister is growing up. She just had her senior prom on Friday April 23rd. You know what that means!?? T-Minis 24 days until she's a High School graduate!

She asked me to do her hair and make up [which i think turned out great ;)] She looked absolutely gorgeous!

My sister and I are 4 1/2 years apart in age, we've always been in such different points in our lives our entire lives. She was still in elementary school when I was in high school, she was still in middle school by the time I graduated.... and now I'm almost a college graduate and she's just now breaking into the "real world". I've always hoped that once we were both adults, we would become closer and be able to understand each other better. I can definitely tell that our relationship has changed for the better as we get older. I can't wait to become even closer with her.

My sister is an incredibly kind person, she has an outrageously large heart. Whether it is her age or not, I don't know. I hope she never loses the ability to see good in all people and want to help.

She doesn't know "what she wants to be when she grows up" but she is definitely going to college in the fall. She told me she wants to go to school for forensic science AND teaching. I think anything she decides to do, she'll be great at.

I love my sister, more than anything.

A couple of weeks ago, I took some newborn pictures for Alex and my friends, Scotty and Jessica [Here's their Maternity Pictures].

I was so excited when I got a picture message from them announcing that their baby boy was finally here! I couldn't wait to capture his cuteness! Mr. Breckin James Smith is the cutest, hairiest little thing in the whole world! He didn't really like his picture taken, but we managed to get some good shots. I just dropped the photo's off to Jess today, I can't wait to hear what she thinks!

[After giving them a CD with their maternity pictures on them, they ordered prints online. Jessica told me that they got an email back from the company stating that they would need a Copyright release for the pictures because they "appeared professional" and would need permission to print them!] Can you believe that!? Made my little heart skip! I love taking pictures, but like anyone, I am so very critical of myself; it is always great to hear when people enjoy your work and are happy.

Anywho, what kind of blog entry would this be without some pictures??

Last week I took some Maternity pics for a couple of friends of ours, who are amazing by the way. Baby Breckin was getting so big, so fast, we had to get these done soon! [Also just found out last night that she's progressing really well and might have him in the next couple days!]

This was my first really photography session, other than my sister's senior portraits. It was so exciting and nerve racking at the same time.

They are such an amazing couple, I had a wonderful time taking pictures of them, Alex went with, so it was like a double date, with lots of picture taking of course!

There is so much going on in my life right now it's not even funny.

Busy busy busy.... I eat breath and sleep school/ work. When I am not @ one i'm @ the other, and my time in between is spent sleeping or eating.
School:
I am still so lost when it comes to my education, there is so much I want to do and so many directions I'd like to go. Unfortunately that isn't going to happen. I decided to go ahead and finish my Bachelor's in Life Science here @ ASU, I don't know what the heck I am going to do with it.... I wanted to apply to Midwestern's PA program initially, but it is basically a full time job... and this girl has to work and pay the bills, so I don't forsee that being a realistic option. My next choice was nursing school... but I am still not that keen on being a nurse, I don't know why but it has never been something that makes me excited inside, I don't know why. I thought of doing that, just as a start, to have a foot in the door somewhere. I don't even know where to start when looking @ nursing schools... ASU is effed, sorry but it is, it's pathetic that a school tells you not to even bother applying to their nursing school unless your GPA is 3.8 or higher...... yeah. I have a 3.30 GPA, by no means does that make me dumb or less intelligent than the 4.0 kids... it is a result of me having 1 or more full time jobs while going to school full time and not being able to devote all of my time to school work. I'm hoping I will just have an epiphany and all of the answers will just plop into my lap.

Schtuff:

I love photography, it has been a huge interest of mine for many many years. I would love to start my own business one of these days.... I have no time to spare when it comes to taking pictures. I envy people that I know who are accomplishing this already. It is stressful, photography is my one hobby that I love and I don't have the time to even do that.

I recently took Maternity pictures for some friends[which I will post soon], I'm hoping to get a portfolio started within the next year or so, just taking pictures of friends and family, but we'll see.....

Alex and I have decided to move into together soon, which is an exciting step after 4 years of being together. We're hoping to have a place [house or apartment] by the beginning of next year. I'm really excited about it, I'll be able to see him more often. If you didn't know, Alex lives far away from me and the way our schedules have been, we one see eachother about 2 times a week.

Lets see, lets see.

I'm sure more will come to me later ;)

Spring 2010!

What a semester I have in store!

The line up for this semester is: Organic Chemistry + Lab, Cell Biology + Lab, Global Issues in Science and Technology, and Jazz in America.

This semester is going to be rough, I AM NOT a chemistry person, I struggled in regular chemistry, so I am definitely NOT looking forward to Organic Chem.

Cell Bio, not so intimidated, It's just more in depth information about subjects I am already familiar with.

The other two are online, not too worried [yet] about these, they fulfill general requirements [unfortunately] so I just want those to be over and done with.

Other than that, I don't have a whole lot left to finish my B.S. [no, not bullshit] ;)

I'm hoping to be finished by the fall [with summer school and a butt load of classes in the fall]. Realistically, I'll probably be done in Spring of 2011, which means 6 years of schooling will have paid off [ha. i hope.]

Plus working to pay the bills in between all of this. Sheesh, I'm gonna be a busy girl.

Wish me luck, I shall have no life this semester.

Alex and I have been together for 4 years this month! We met in the Fall of 2005 and started dating in January of 2006. It has been a rocky road, we've both been through a lot in that time. Moving, starting new schools, graduating, looking for new jobs, etc. We have an extremely strong friendship and an even stronger love, I don't know what I would do with out him.

This past weekend, Alex surprised me with a hotel room up in Sedona for the weekend. We had a cozy room with a patio that looked over grass and mountains, our room had a fireplace and a jacuzzi tub inside. It was wonderful. It was a great chance for us to get away from our crazy lives and actually spend quality time together.

I made Alex a present, nothing expensive, but straight from the heart. The first part was a scrap book that I started for our "4th year" together. The other part I wrote for him, it was called "I love you because". You can probably guess what that included. :)

Long story short, Alex has made me a much better person. He calms down my feisty personality and makes me see situations through other people's eyes. He always tells me how great of a person I am, how beautiful I am, and how much he loves me.

Alex and I took a trip to the Phoenix Zoo in the beginning of January. We had so much fun! Unfortunately we didn't get to see all of the "cool" animals, like all of the big cats and everything. We got there in the afternoon when a lot of the animals were napping.

Tabresa's Senior Portraits!!!

Hey everyone!! Hope you all had a great week. I've finally got to processing SOME of the pictures Tabresa and I took together last weekend. We took over 800 pictures, about 80 of which turned out really well... I'm only a 4th of the way done so far haha.

OK. So I am so happy I was able to spend the day with my little sister. We are just the right age apart at the moment, that sometimes we don't get each other. I don't see her as often as I'd like so bonding has been hard. But when I get to spend time with her like I did this past weekend none of that matters. We had an AMAZING time.... I am so thankful I was able to spend @ least a couple hours with her. I hope that the next few years bring us even closer, with her becoming an "adult" and all ;) ahahhahaa =P

That being said, I have an incredible sister and am very lucky to have her in my life!

Ok, so now that I've updated from our trip...

I started my 2nd semester @ ASU this past week. I'm taking classes just @ the Downtown Campus.. Busy Busy Busy schedule.

and Death and Dying

It's a pretty packed semester. :)

Wish me luck! I'm thinking about applying to ASU's nursing school for next fall instead of getting my Life Science degree and then going to midwestern.

ASU Nursing School: Less expensive and I'll have my Bachelor's degree (hopefully) in 2011 and be ready to work and have a career. Did I say Less expensive??? lol

Then, maybe continue to get my masters in Anesthesia. Starting Salary: 100k+

P.A route: Bachelors degree in 2011 (maybe) then I have to apply to Midwestern. The P.A program is 2 years long [[and $36,000 per year!]] Plus extra time after that, if I want to specialize in anything.

Result:: Masters Degree, starting salary.. approximately 80k

Wedding day! August 22, 2009
We had such an incredible trip!!! Alex and his cousin play games online as does Steve, this is how they've all known each other for many years, but Alex had never met Steve until this past April when we met them in Las Vegas. We all hit it off right away... I mean, we had to... the 5 of us were sharing a hotel room ;) While we were there, they asked if we would like to come to their wedding. "Of course!" we said.
Steve and Porscha are two of the nicest and most sincere people I've ever met. They had a very small intimate wedding of mostly family and very close friends. After only meeting them that one time in Vegas, we couldn't believe they asked us to be apart of such a close knit event. We were so honored to be invited to be apart of this amazing day.

August Twenty Forth 2009

Just got back from visiting some friends who were getting married in Colorado. Alex and I drove up to Colorado Springs with his cousin on Tuesday, Springs is SOOOO pretty. It definitely puts Phoenix to shame ;) We also went to Denver, where the wedding was held. Steve and Porscha got married on Saturday @ a beautiful mansion... It was a great way to end a very fun trip! The weather was incredible! Definitely sad to experience 100+ degree weather again. It's good to be home, but sd to leave a great group of people!

So I have been following another blog, thanks to Megan and Heather. It's called "Picky Palate". I tried a recipe today, it was super yummy and WAY wasy.

It's called a "broccoli cheddar and sausage egg muffin". I used Bisquick instead of the roll of bicuits. I put too much of it, so I tasted more of the bicuit than the sausage and such. But still delicious!

I plan on trying more of her recipies, they all look so yummy and easy!

D-Backs VS Phillies

Alex's cousin was nice enough to treat us to a baseball game the other day... the Diamondbacks lost unfortunately. It was a lot of fun, we haven't been to a game in a couple years, so it was nice to see the home team play.

Congratulations to my cousin Jennifer and her new hubby, they got married in Flagstaff, AZ on July 25, 2009. They had a very nice outdoor wedding with all their friends and family. The weather was great @ about 85 degrees, compared to Phoenix where the tempurature has been @ around 110 or higher.

Ok so big news this month!!! I chopped all my hair off! All of 14 inches or so!

I finally FINALLLYYY got an interview with Mayo Clinic Hospital for a job. After a Year and 2 months of looking for a job, I got an interview....It's about time ;)

Two Thousand and Nine Thus Far....

January
Ok so this is an update of what's been going on so far this year.
Beginning the new year...

Well as some of you may know I lost my job in May
of 2008, so continuing into the new year I still
didn't have a job.
I started attending ASU west campus and Downtown
for the spring semester.
My course work included Anatomy Physiology
[which was awesome], Chemistry [Not so awesome],
Careers in the Health Industry, & Exploration and Science [also not awesome].
During this month, Alex and I also celebrated our 3 yr. Anniversary!! We just hung out this year since both of us have been unemployed.

February
Getting into the second month of school, started getting a little harder! Besides Valentines day, nothing exciting went on during this month!

March
This was a special month for Alex's family, his cousin Kristy married her long time boyfriend Jason. It was a beautiful wedding, we had so much fun!

April
Happy Birthday to Me! I turned 22 this month. I went out with a bunch of friends to my favorite spot in town "The Shout House". It's a dueling piano bar, we always have a great time there!

Later that month, Alex, his cousin Brian and I met some friends up in vegas! The first night we went on a club tour, so we took a party bus around to a couple different nigth clubs.

The rest of the trip we just hung out, walked the strip and relaxed.

May
First semester @ ASU complete! Nothing too terribly exciting this month either =P

June

June was a very exciting month, my cousin Danielle and her high school sweetheart got married, so it was a month of parties and fun! I'm so lucky that I was asked to be apart of their wedding, Danielle and I grew up very close, practically twins. We were born 6 1/2 days apart, we received matching gifts for every occasion.... sometimes we took advantage of this by using some of these matching gifts "jump suits" and performing dances for the whole family! lol
